The United Arab Emirates University is seeking to appoint an experienced and internationally recognized academic leader as Dean of the College of Education. The appointee should assume a leading role in the development of the College to become among the well-known Education Colleges worldwide and support the university efforts to meet its ambitious educational and research mission. Successful candidates must have the academic rank of Professor and should have held senior academic administrative positions in a reputable research university.
Established in 1977, and located in the oasis city of Al Ain, UAE University is one of the leading comprehensive universities in the region, with significant research output and a strong community engagement mission. The University was ranked in the world’s top 50 universities under 50 years old. More than 14,000 students are enrolled in the University’s nine colleges and are supported by more than 600 PhD faculty members and 320 instructors (with Master’s Degrees). The College of Education ( https://cedu.uaeu.ac.ae/en/index.shtml) includes four academic departments: Curriculum & Methods of Instruction, Foundations of Education, Physical Education, and Special Education. The college offers undergraduate degrees to prepare teachers in the primary grades, master of education degrees for school and curriculum leaders, and a doctoral program for research and advanced study. Highly qualified, research active, faculty members are drawn from all over the world.
The Dean acts as the executive officer of the College and reports to the Provost. As such, the Dean’s duties include overall responsibility for the academic, administrative, and budgetary operation of the College, including enhancement of existing academic programs, recruitment of new faculty, and development of networks that will provide support to achieve the College mission.
