POSITION: Assistant Professor. This is a nine-month tenure-track position in the Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation, and Counseling beginning in August 2024. This faculty will be hired to support our Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s program, with the expectation that the candidate will contribute to the other programs in Counselor Education. Review of applications for the position will begin January 31, 2024; however, the search will remain open until the position is filled.  
 
The Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation, and Counseling is housed in the College of Education. The Counselor Education Program includes four CACREP accredited programs, which include master’s programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, School Counseling, and a doctoral program in Counselor Education. In addition, the department houses programs in Counseling Psychology (APA Accredited) and Special Education. Information can be found at www.auburn.edu/serc.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø  Engage in rigorous research resulting in scholarly publications, preferably peer-reviewed journal articles in prestigious outlets
Ø  Seek external funding for research activities 
Ø  Teach courses in the Clinical Mental Health specialization area and other foundation courses in counselor education, including teaching and supervision experiences in clinical practice courses (practicum and internship) 
Ø  Advise and mentor graduate students
Ø  Contribute to the Counselor Education program’s mission to integrate advocacy, social justice, cultural competence, and ethical practice into the preparation of counseling professionals 
Ø  Demonstrate engagement in professional service and leadership in counseling and community organizations 
Ø  Provide institutional service as assigned by the department head and engage in professional service within the discipline
