Description
As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks an Adjunct University Supervisor to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by helping develop future teachers in our undergraduate Educator Preparation Program at Marian University. The Fred S. Klipsch Educators College is committed to developing highly effective teachers and leaders to transform education for all students.

Located 10 minutes west of downtown Indianapolis, Marian University's mission to be a great Catholic university dedicated to providing students with excellent teaching and learning in the Franciscan and liberal arts tradition. Marian University was founded in 1937 by the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, Indiana, and the Franciscan Values that the Sisters ingrained into the university's culture are still prevalent today. The university has experienced tremendous growth in the past 15 years under the leadership of President Daniel J. Elsener, including the opening of the Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2013 - the state's first new medical school in 110 years. Marian University's football team has captured the NAIA national championship in 2012 and 2015. In 2016 and 2017, the women's basketball team won back-to-back NAIA national championship. Marian University is also home to the national 's most successful collegiate cycling program, which currently holds 37 USA Cycling collegiate national titles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
  • Supports teacher candidates during the clinical internship courses by completing regular observation cycles on-site an/or virtually during the semester.
  • Responsible for providing feedback and support on instructional planning.
  • Classroom management strategies.
  • Effective evidence-based teaching practices.
  • Data-driven instruction.


Required Qualifications:
  • Commitment to the mission of Marian University and the Klipsch Educators College.
  • Master's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment, doctorate preferred.
  • Documented experience in creating highly effective learning environments and utilizing evidence-based practices for P-12 students.
  • Five years of P-12 classroom teaching experience.
  • Valid Indiana teaching or administrative license.
  • Ability to observe at least once a week Monday-Friday during the day.
  • Must have both experience teaching Spanish and a current Indiana license for Foreign Language: Spanish.
