Position overview Position title: Lecturer Salary range: Salary is commensurate with experience, with a minimum starting rate of $62,455. Percent time: These are temporary, part-time appointments. Anticipated start: January 1, for Spring appointments; Summer course begin dates fluctuate between May 23, 2022 and July 5, 2022 and Fall appointments begin July 1, or August 1, 2022 Position duration: One to two semesters with possible extension. LECTURER - TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAM - GRADUATE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
The Graduate School of Education (GSE) at the University of California, Berkeley is generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary, part-time, non-tenure track Lecturers to teach graduate courses in its professional preparation programs for 2022-2023. Screening of applicants begins immediately and continues as needed. Applicants may be selected from this pool to be appointed in Fall and Spring semesters, or to teach in Summer Sessions. The number of positions varies from semester to semester. Appointments may be renewed based on need and performance.
Teaching Responsibilities: We are seeking outstanding Lecturers who can teach/co-teach courses in Berkeley Educators for Equity & Excellence (BE3)--the GSE's teacher education program. BE3 consists of 4 pathways:
Secondary Mathematics & Science
Secondary History/Social Science
Anticipated positions include Lecturers who will teach courses focused on:
Secondary Science Methods
Secondary English Methods
Supporting English Language Learners in, (a) Elementary/multiple-subjects classrooms, (b) Secondary English and History/Social Science classrooms, and (c) - -
Secondary Mathematics and Science classrooms
Introduction to Ethnic Studies in K-12 Schools
Secondary Computer Science
Universal Design for Learning
Spanish Bilingual and Dual-language Instruction
General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials, and collaborating with Teacher Education Program leadership, instructors, and supervisors.
