Associate Professor or Professor, (tenure eligible) and Associate Dean for Teacher Education

The Graduate School of Education (GSE) at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, invites applications for a visionary leader to serve as Associate Dean for Teacher Education. This is a full-time, tenured position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The Associate Dean for Teacher Education, a member of the Dean’s Leadership Team, will serve as the point person for all matters related to teacher preparation including establishing a vision for UB Teacher Education, and engaging with local, statewide, SUNY, and national partners. The Graduate School of Education is a mission-driven organization that is fundamentally concerned with access, equity, diversity, and inclusion for marginalized and underserved students. Our future Associate Dean for Teacher Education will utilize their leadership experience and vision to continue to introduce and innovate our teacher preparation programs to ensure that students are prepared to address contemporary social, political, economic, and environmental challenges that impact public education. Successful candidates will bring interest, experience, and skills to advance and expand current community-centered teacher education initiatives. Our nationally recognized teacher residency program, founded on principles of equity, inclusivity, and collaborative professionalism, is a standard bearer of our teacher education programming. We offer a comprehensive number of degrees and pathways that lead to NYS certifications including masters (2 years), combined bachelors-masters degree (3+2), and teacher residency programs (16 mos.). All pathways are accredited through the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP). Responsibilities include:
- Administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, quality assurance and continuous improvement, staff development and performance appraisals, budget and resource allocation, and other areas for operational excellence.
- Establish, monitor, evaluate, and modify processes, procedures, and/or standards, ensuring alignment of teacher education programs with GSE’s mission, values, goals, and objectives, as well as all local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Monitor programs to ensure compliance with applicable accrediting bodies.
- Convene and facilitate various stakeholder groups, including community advisory boards.
- Lead grant writing efforts including reapplication for teacher residency grants.
- Promote and facilitate research opportunities for interested faculty and graduate students.
Appointments to begin in the Fall of 2025.
