About This Department

The Department of Teaching and Learning offers programs leading to the Bachelor of Science in Education degree in both Early Childhood and Elementary, the Master of Science in Education degree in Secondary Education, and the Doctor of Philosophy in Education degree with concentrations in Early Childhood, Literacy, Language and Culture, and Curriculum and Instruction. Additionally, the Department offers programs for licensed teachers in Elementary, Secondary, and Reading. The mission of the Department is to prepare students who are innovative and creative educators who make a difference for diverse learners, from birth through adulthood, in schools and communities, both local and global.

The Darden College of Education and Professional Studies is committed to excellence in research, teaching, and service. The College has active research and service partnerships with regional, national and international businesses, post-secondary institutions, hospitals, non-profit agencies, schools and military bases. The mission of the Darden College of Education and Professional Studies is to prepare distinguished professionals who become leaders in their fields.
