Dr. Heath’s research agenda focuses on public education that supports social change. School and the affordances of educational technology should liberate learners to examine themselves and their world. Her research in social studies and technology centers inquiry on young people, technology use, and civic engagement in online and offline spaces. Dr. Heath’s dissertation research examined ways in which student-centered learning and one-to-one technology integration in the K-12 social studies curriculum empowered students in high poverty, majority-minority schools.
