Her research focuses on the ways in which various policies and the actions of schools and communities mold the schooling experiences of homeless, highly mobile, and low-income families. In order to understand education in the context of poverty and homelessness, she often examines the interrelationships between schools and out-of-school actors, policies, and places. Her scholarship seeks to extend the field by providing an in-depth look at the educational needs and assets of families experiencing poverty and homelessness amid today’s multifaceted and complex policy environment.
