Mechanisms and treatment of psychological disorders, emphasizing internalizing disorders such as anxiety and depression. This interest has guided my pursuit of two distinct but related areas of research. The first has involved laboratory research that examines emotion-cognition interactions in anxious and depressed individuals. The second research area involves treatment research, primarily using basic science methods to evaluate treatment outcome. I employ psychophysiological (including EEG, ERP, heart rate, skin conductance) as well as self-report and behavioral methods in this work.
