My research interests are comprised of three interrelated threads: 1) basic design research on learning architectures – cognitively informed task structures particularly suited to learning; 2) studying the effectiveness of new curriculum structures based on these learning architectures across a range of subject areas and audiences, particularly online learners; and 3) investigation of knowledge-rich, learning architecture-specific tools and technologies to facilitate rapid, high-quality curriculum development and to provide performance support for teachers enacting those curricula.
