Associate Professor Joseph Zajda holds BA (Hons), MA, MEd and PhD from Monash University. He coordinates M.Ed. programmes, the School of Education, Australian Catholic University (Melbourne Campus), and teaches Learning (EDFD109), SOSE (EDSS322), Development and Learning (EDFD446), and Education and Society (EDFD103) courses. He received the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, Australian Catholic University in 2003. He is currently co-chair of the Publications Standing Committee of the World Council of Comparative and Education Societies (WCCES) for the 2006-2008 period.
He has written and edited 24 books and over 100 book chapters and articles in the areas of education policy, curriculum and education reforms, social justice, and decentralisation and privatisation in education. His recent book publications include: Schooling the New Russians (James Nicholas Publishers, 2007), Decentralisation and Privatisation in Education (Springer, 2006), Education and Social Justice (Springer, 2006), Society and Environment, Curriculum, Culture and Teaching, Learning and Teaching (James Nicholas Publishers, 2006). He is editor of the International Handbook of Globalisation, Education and Policy Research (Springer, 2005). He is also the editor of the 12-volume book series Globalisation, and Comparative Education (Springer, 2007/8). He has been invited by the Unesco Institute of Education (Board of Directors) to join the board of Consulting Editors of the International Review of Education (Unesco).
