Berch’s research interests are in the areas of children’s numerical cognition, mathematical learning disabilities, and evolutionary educational psychology. He has authored various articles and book chapters on these topics, and is senior editor of the Elsevier/Academic Press book series (co-edited with David C. Geary and Kathy Mann Koepke), Mathematical Cognition and Learning. He is also the lead founder of the Mathematical Cognition and Learning Society. Recently, he co-edited (with David C. Geary) the 2016 Springer book, Evolutionary Perspectives on Child Development and Education.
