My research is in the field of children's literature, particularly multicultural and international literature. My current research explores how disability is portrayed in children's and young adult literature. I am also interested in how young children, particularly those who have been labeled as "struggling" readers, can expand and express their meaning making in classrooms through literature discussions, drama, art, and inquiry.
