Dr. Garwood's research focuses on the relationship between children’s mental health and their literacy development, and how best to prepare and support pre- and in-service teachers of students with and at risk for learning and behavioral disabilities. He currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Emotional and Behavioral Disorders and Learning Disabilities Research and Practice, and his published work can be found in journals such as Exceptional Children, Remedial and Special Education, Teaching and Teacher Education, and Teacher Education and Special Education.
