Her research interests include pre-service and in-service teacher knowledge, skills, and dispositions; beginning reading development, assessment and instruction; writing development and instruction; and literacy instruction of students with developmental disabilities. She has presented at the international and national level, and her published work can be found in journals such as the Journal of Learning Disabilities, Writing and Pedagogy, and Linguistics and Education.
