Loya’s research focuses on higher education issues such as teaching, learning, and assessment; identity and gender studies; and access, equity, and diversity issues in higher education. Broadly, she is interested in finding ways for colleges and universities to be welcoming and supporting places for all students. In particular, her current work seeks to understand how classroom pedagogies and assessments can support historically underrepresented students.
