Dr. Baggett's research agenda includes using mixed-methods and participatory methods to examine inequity in educational contexts. Her primary line of inquiry integrates critical race theory with psychological research about educators' beliefs to examine how colleges of education prepare educators to meet the needs of diverse learners. Her past projects include a multi-phase study of student enrollment in World Language classes in North Carolina, and a longitudinal case study of teacher candidates’ conceptions of academic racial profiling of students of color. Dr. Baggett’s current research projects include engaging alternative school students in youth participatory action research (YPAR) projects to promote community belonging and empowerment among youths who have experienced marginalization in public schools. She is also working on a community-based research project with LGBTQ people in Mississippi and Alabama.
