My research agenda focuses on the impact of educational technologies on vulnerable populations. Vulnerable populations are groups that are not well integrated into the education system because of ethnic, cultural, economic, geographic, health, or other characteristics. This isolation puts members of these groups at risk for not obtaining necessary education, and thus constitutes a potential threat to their future quality of life. My research agenda centers on vulnerable populations such as K-12 student and teachers, higher education students, and older adults and how various technology based environments such as fully online cyber schools and immersive 3D virtual worlds and games can influence their ability to succeed in education and life.
