With 40 years educational experience in PK-12 settings, including principalships in three different school divisions and over 17 years as superintendent of schools for the City of Salem school division in Virginia, Dr. Tripp provides meaningful and authentic learning experiences for the graduate student cohorts in the Educational Leadership program. He provides instruction and leadership that develops the skills and abilities necessary for students to take on responsibilities as principals, assistant principals, supervisors, superintendents, university faculty, and researchers in the field of education leadership. He teaches courses that enable students to make connections between theory and application, such as Theories of Educational Leadership, Readings in Educational Leadership Research; Public School Budgeting; Nature and Context of Education and Learning; and, Seminar: The Superintendency. Dr. Tripp also advises a number of graduate students each year.
