Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education

The Department of Early Childhood, Special Education, and Counselor Education (EDSCE) in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky invites applications for an Assistant Professor, regular title series, tenure-eligible, in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education (IECE). This regular title series faculty member will provide expertise in instruction, assessment, teaming, and policy, as it applies to the field of early childhood education and the IECE program at the University of Kentucky. The appointment is nine months, effective August 16, 2025.
Responsibilities include the following: Conduct a programmatic line of research relevant to early childhood education for children with and without disabilities and their families; seek external funding to support research and/or personnel preparation activities; teach two courses each semester (fall and spring); supervise practicum students in community-based placements as needed; serve on masters and doctoral committees; support state and community early childhood partnerships with agencies in Kentucky and nationwide; provide service to the department, college, university, and profession; assist with faculty oversight of the University of Kentucky Early Childhood Laboratory as needed.
Qualifications include an earned doctorate in early childhood education, early childhood special education, special education, or a related field prior to start date; evidence of a programmatic line of research that has the potential to lead to external funding; experience as a classroom teacher in the United States’ public education system serving children with and without disabilities; and evidence of positively impacting student growth and achievement.
Preferred experiences include publishing articles in refereed journals; grant writing; managing and coordinating funded projects; teaching college courses; supervising and mentoring college students in serving young children with or at-risk for disabilities; and effectively collaborating with community partners and communicating with stakeholders.
